In 2008, Sierra was rescued from a pseudo-sanctuary where she lived in an 8 foot by 8 foot dog kennel. The facility was implicated in an investigation by the US Fish and Wildlife Service for selling their big cats to the meat market. They ultimately agreed to give up their animals after someone was severely injured due to inadequate caging.
Sierra had a lengthy and challenging adjustment when coming to NTS because of the horribly inadequate conditions she was subjected to for many years. After years of care and love, she is now one of the happiest and most playful tigers and NTS.
