Volunteer Opportunities

It literally takes a village to care for all of our rescued animals. Are you interested in working hard and committing to helping the well-being of our exotic and domestic animals?

Our volunteers are a special group of people and we could not save all the animals at our sanctuary without their help. We don’t require experience! If you have passion and a drive to learn we will teach you the details.

As an NTS Volunteer, you will be placed on a path that will fulfill the needs of the sanctuary while also fulfilling your personal needs.

While volunteering, you will work alongside our interns, staff, and management. If you are an extrovert who enjoys public speaking you may work on our Guest Relations Team in our gift shop or as a  volunteer tour guide! Feeling a bit more introverted? Perhaps being a sous chef for our primates or meat prepper for our felids is more in your wheelhouse. Love gardening? Our Grounds Maintenance Team may be the right choice for you! Interested in horses, swine, and cattle? The Livestock Team may be the spot you enjoy the most.

Our volunteers are required to commit to a regular schedule, as we depend on you to help us care for our animals and our property.  Volunteers can commit to as little as 2 hours per week, but we hope to see you more than that! Each volunteer earns a VERY modest monthly stipend. Stipends are calculated based on each volunteer’s weekly committed schedule.

What does our volunteer team do?

We offer very limited volunteer opportunities and positions are competitive. All volunteers must be willing to complete a face-to-face or Zoom interview, commit to a regular schedule of at least 2 hours per week, be willing to complete onboarding paperwork (citizenship verification and required tax documents) and training programs, and must provide proof of TDAP (tetanus) vaccination.
